Rena Gardiner was a prolific artist and printmaker. She illustrated, wrote, printed and bound books, many were guides for the National Trust, at her Dorset cottage workshop. No two copies of her books were the same and one recently fetched £3,000 at auction. I think her illustrations are wonderful and I find her incredibly inspirational, not only her skill as an artist but her dedication to the process of producing her books. Her work is highly detailed and full of colour and texture. Rena Gardiner: Artist and Printmaker is full of images of her work in progress giving an idea of what was involved. It also has unpublished lino cuts, pastels and paintings. As an artist and designer I admire her knowledge of print making and her determination to achieve something that took patience.
